Job description:
The American University of Armenia (AUA) is seeking an Assistant or Associate Professor in Philosophy starting Fall 2024. Full-time faculty positions at the AUA typically involve teaching three courses per semester, pursuing research activities, and providing university and public service.

Job responsibilities
Key responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in ethics, philosophy, and other related course. Teaching may also include an interdisciplinary first-year course focused on the development of critical thinking and analytical and academic writing skills. Expanding one’s research portfolio is required, while engaging in cross disciplinary synergies among the breadth of expertise at the University. In addition to teaching and research faculty are expected to contribute to the community and university service for the advancement of the AUA mission and vision.
Required qualifications
- PhD in Philosophy or related fields (or Ph.D. Candidate with an expected graduation date prior to Fall 2024)
- Teaching experience in a university setting;
- Experience in implementing innovative teaching techniques;
- Active record of research and scholarship;
- Experience in an international setting or teaching non-native English speakers is a plus;
- This is a full-time position requiring residence in Armenia.

Compensation: Compensation is commensurate with university-wide pay scale, qualifications and experience. AUA offers competitive benefit packages, including health insurance. Foreign faculty are offered a housing subsidy and an annual round-trip airfare.
