SOS Children's Villages Armenia is looking for a dynamic individual to join our team as the Head of Fund Development. SOS Children's Villages is a global non-profit organization dedicated to providing loving homes to children in need In Armenia, we strive to ensure that every child grows up in a safe, nurturing environment, surrounded by love and support.

The main aim of the Head of Fund Development is to pursue opportunities in all Fields of Fundraising to cover the Member Association’s (“SOS Children’s Villages” Armenian Charity Foundation) running costs and investments from private, corporate donations in order to increase / establish the financial self-sufficiency of the Member Association, to define, implement and fulfil the middle-term FR /FDC strategy reflected in the business plans of the Member Association.

Main responsibilities

  • Defines, implements and fulfils the middle-term FR /FD strategy reflected in the business plans of the Member Association. This includes donations in kind;
  • Plans, monitors, evaluates and analyses the fundraising activities according to defined planning and reporting procedures and against defined and agreed KPIs;
  • Positions SOS Children’s Villages as a strong and consistent brand among potential and existing supporters based on SOS Children’s Villages roots, vision, mission and values;
  • Works according to globally valid manuals and guidelines and the Fund Development Department’s planning and reporting procedure;
  • Aims to strengthen brand awareness, credibility and acceptance with the overall goal to support fundraising activities;
  • Drives fundraising innovation in all fields of Fundraising like products, channels, target groups, database solutions etc.

Leadership responsibility - people management

  • Supervises and leads the national Fundraising team in the Member Association incl. all leadership tasks from recruitment decisions to managing the team as well as individual performance and ensuring the development of direct reports;
  • Acts as a role model and further develops individuals and team through performance- and talent management.

International sponsorships

  • Responsible for sponsorship work in the country, implements the necessary organisational systems and procedures so that the sponsorship programme runs smoothly. As all levels of the organisation work together to increase sponsors’ commitment and offer mutual support, and share information, knowledge, and expertise, is directly responsible for ensuring that sponsorship works within the country runs smoothly according to the International Sponsorship Policy Support Document

Capacity building & functional network

  • Fosters national capacity building in all areas of Fundraising;
  • Actively fosters national good practice within the regional FDC network through the respective FDC regional counterpart within EUCM.

Child Safeguarding (CS)

  • Carries out Child Safeguarding risk assessment within his/her area of work and ensures that relevant actions are put in place to mitigate existing and possible CS risks
  • Responsible for Crisis communication process in CS incidents monitored by or escalated by GSC following the Crisis communication Policy support document
  • Responsible to report any Child Safeguarding suspicion, concern, allegation or incident immediately, following Child Safeguarding reporting procedures. CS reports should be made to the national CS focal person or any other member of the national CS team and/or to respective line manager

Must criteria

  • We are looking for a creative, inspirational leader with entrepreneurial skills who is both strategic and also willing to work "hands on"
  • She/he needs to have people management skills and a strong commitment to meet agreed targets
  • She/he also needs to be able to actively identify and open new opportunities for financial support and maintaining high ethical fundraising standards
  • She/he has to be a state resident with proven understanding and knowledge how things work in the country and well integrated in local business networks (e.g. membership of professional associations) and society
  • Can identify with the vision, mission and values of SOS Children’s Villages

Competencies – knowledge, skills, abilities

  • University degree ideally in marketing and sales, business administration or social science
  • Proven track record of at least 5 years in fundraising or similar profession in a leading position
  • Proven track record in direct marketing and at least one other FR-channel (online, F2F, SMS, etc)
  • Proven track‐record of at least 5 years in sales and marketing either in the profit sector in a senior position – offline and/or online
  • Experience in the use of online marketing, use of social media as part of a fully integrated FR approach
  • Good understanding and practical experience of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems incl. database solutions being able to manage the full donor life cycle
  • A proven track record of at least 5 years in leadership and management
  • Able to lead, motivate, mentor, coach and manage the fundraising team
  • Capable of setting and achieving ambitious and realistic targets
  • Able to represent and be professionally comfortable with High Net Worth Individuals and SOS national major donors
  • Experience and competence in dealing with managing income and expenditure budgets
  • A strong result focused orientation combined with a proven competence in strategic planning, budgeting, analysis and evaluation
  • Proven market analysing skills
  • Efficient in time and resource management
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills both local language and English
  • Able to deal with the challenges of a complex international organisation
  • Self‐motivated, determined, innovative and with a “can do” mentality, i.e. ability to identify and take advantage of fundraising opportunities with an entrepreneurial spirit and not rely on brand awareness. Must proactively “sell” the SOS national association.
  • Service culture approach: able to understand the language, needs and able to fulfil the needs and expectations of diverse donors (private, corporate, public, institutional)
  • Strong social and networking skills and in initiating and developing professional relationships
  • Well‐groomed and self‐confident character and appearance
  • Able to deal with challenges and stress situations
  • Good working knowledge and use of MS Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Lync)
  • Experience with high‐level negotiations and management of partners and service providers

Preferred additional criteria

  • Driving license
